Give Where You Live: Support EquiTeam Through Give Local York on May 3, 2019
We are excited to announce that EquiTeam will be participating in Give Local York, a day dedicated to supporting non-profits that contribute life-changing work in our community. In just three weeks, the 24-hour day of giving will kick off at 12 AM on May 3rd, lasting until 11:59 PM.
May 3rd is quickly approaching and we need your help!
During this 24-hour online donation event, there are several opportunities to support EquiTeam and raise awareness for the services we provide.
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Fundraising
A new feature this year is the ability to fundraise on behalf of EquiTeam, called Peer-to-Peer Fundraising. Basically, it gives you the ability to reach out to your contacts, promote the Give Local York Event, and encourage them to support EquiTeam through a linked personal fundraising page. This allows you to leverage your passion by sharing your connection to EquiTeam. Research shows that nonprofits using P2P fundraising raised 330% more than nonprofits not using P2P Fundraising!
If you’ve never fundraised before, don’t worry! After signing up as a P2P fundraiser, you will be provided with a host of fundraising tools. To sign up to fundraise on behalf of Equiteam, go to our link on the Give Local York site at: https://bit.ly/2UvZtLm . From there, you will select the Fundraise button to become a P2P fundraiser.
Provide a Matching Gift or a Challenge or Become a Sponsor
Matching gifts allows donations to reach further. Examples could be “matching donations received between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m up to $1,000” or “Matching all donations of $100 or more (up to $5,000”
A challenge allows funds to be added to the organization’s total once a goal is reached. Examples include, “When EquiTeam reaches $50,000, [Your Organization] will give an extra $5,000”, or “Help us unlock $1,000 when EquiTeam reaches 300 donors”
The benefits of a match or a challenge is that it incentivizes donors as their gift will have a greater impact; it also provides an opportunity to highlight your business as a sponsor. Please contact us if you are interested in a matching gift, challenge, or becoming a sponsor.
Research shows that organizations with matching funds raise on average 4.5 x more than organizations without a match!
Spread the Word
If you’re unable to participate as an official fundraiser, we’d still love your help. You can spread the word about Give Local York on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets by linking to our campaign at: https://bit.ly/2UvZtLm and including the hashtag #GiveLocalYork!
Also consider changing your profile picture and cover photo on social media to promote our organization and Give Local York on your own social media profiles. Please send us an email if you would like for Give Local York graphics emailed to you. If you are supporting more than one organization during Give Local York, there are more general graphics available at https://givelocalyork.org that promote the overall Give Local York day!

Every donation counts! Every dollar donated to participating nonprofits will be enhanced with bonus funds provided by Give Local York sponsors—making donor dollars stretch further! Nonprofits will also be eligible for cash prizes!
You can donate on May 3rd by visiting our profile on the Give Local York site at https://bit.ly/2UvZtLm. You can also mail a check to EquiTeam ahead of May 3rd; However, in order for the donation to count toward matching funds, please be sure that you indicate on your check that the donation should be applied to the Give Local York campaign.
