Welcome to EquiTeam.org
EquiTeam Support Services is a Non-Profit Organization.

Our mission is to provide a professional team to assist in improving the personal health and well-being of individuals, families, and groups through interaction with the horse as teacher and guide: facilitating self-motivation, communication and expression.

A team consisting of a certified therapist and a horse professional, who are well trained in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), will design sessions to fit your needs. One or more horses will be chosen specifically to complete your team.

A simple phone call will put you in touch with one of our professionals who can provide more information and answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation and this is a confidential call.

EquiTeam Philosophy
People don't change...

  • Unless they are outside their comfort zone
  • Unless they are challenged
  • The most effective change occurs when people find their own answers to the problems they face

Most Frequently Asked Question:

Q: Do I need to have riding experience?

A: No. EAP is not about riding or horsemanship. In fact, all EAP activities take place on the ground. The only requirement is that you dress appropriately for working with the horses in the barn, pasture, or arena. Shoes that cover your toes are essential.

"Many have gotten past the eyebrow-lifting to find that the practice known as equine-assisted psychotherapy is not analysis for horses or expensive riding lessons with a psychiatrist.

The horses, the thinking goes, are sentient and even wise creatures who often mimic the behaviors of their human companions, and this quality means they can play a critical role in nudging clients toward fresh insights. Unlike dogs, horses aren't endlessly affectionate and accepting; they don't just do what they are told. If someone is afraid or angry, the horse will react in kind, throwing that behavior right back. In this way, the animals act as unbiased feedback machines."
